ENERGY STAR building certification is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) broader program for rating the energy efficiency of a wide range of products.

The ENERGY STAR program rates the energy efficiency of buildings on a 1 to 100 percentile scale. A score of 85 means that a building is more efficient than 85% of comparable buildings.
